Rocking Chair (1957.34.2)

Nathaniel V made this chair for family use, and it remained in the Dominy homestead until his great-grandson, Charles Mulford Dominy, sold the property in 1941. The Dominy craftsmen varied the style of slat-back armchairs—their most popular product—by using different slat templates. Set-back arms were popular from the early 1790s through 1850.
