Silent Clock (1986.134)

This Silent clock had key-wound weight-driven works with two hands indicating the hour and minute and lacks a bell. This clock was probably one of the latest examples to leave the Dominy shop. Felix fabricated the movement, and Nathaniel V built the case of this tall clock for Jonathan Osborn 3rd, billing him $25 on October 8, 1825. Either Nathaniel or Felix may have painted the cherry face; Nathaniel embellished the hood with a fancy scrolled fret, a flourish that distinguishes his cases made in the 1820s.
